After supporters joined Compassion Over Killing in encouraging the burger giant to follow in its sister company, Carl Jr.’s, footsteps by offering a vegan burger, Hardee’s heard the sizzling demand and will soon be introducing Beyond Meat sausages and patties to its menus.

"Nose bones" get the boot

On the heels of a Compassion Over Killing investigation of several Tyson Foods broiler breeder farms, which offered the first hidden-camera look at the cruel practice of “boning” – in which a dull plastic rod is stabbed through the nostrils of young male breeder birds to restrict food intake – Tyson announced that it was immediately ending the practice.

Since then, 17 of the top 20 US poultry producers have stopped or confirmed they aren't using "nose bones."

Starbucks debuts vegan bowls and cupcake

In 2017, Starbucks debuted a protein-packed vegan lentil bowl, which quickly sold out at some locations due to high demand. The addition followed dairy-free milks (almond, soy, and coconut!) for drinks, as well as vegan snacks and a breakfast option. Now, some Starbucks customers have a latte to smile about: a new sweet treat to have with their coffee. Starbucks is now serving a vegan cupcake in South Florida!

Lightlife goes vegan

Following a campaign by Compassion Over Killing, a few years ago Lightlife drastically reduced the use of eggs in their line of vegetarian foods, by 166,000 eggs annually! The brand also introduced three exciting new vegan items. Now chickens, and all animals, have more news to celebrate: Lightlife has announced all of its products will be 100% vegan!
