Just days after Steve-O launched a petition on Change.org asking Wendy’s to offer a veggie burger, the Columbus Dispatch reported that two locations in Wendy’s hometown of Columbus, Ohio are currently offering black bean veggie burgers as part of a limited test menu.
UPDATE: We’ve confirmed that this black bean patty is vegan and organic! To keep it vegan, be sure to order without cheese or ranch sauce.
This is a small yet progressive step, and if this test is successful, the veggie burger could be introduced nationwide.
According to Wendy’s spokesperson Bob Bertini, “It’s too early to say where this may go,” Bertini said, “but we’ve been encouraged by the early consumer response.”
Americans everywhere are increasingly looking for vegan options when dining out. As noted in a recent article in QSR, a restaurant industry publication, a recent survey conducted by 210 Analytics reveals that “Millennials are increasingly interested in vegan cuisine, and more than 60 percent consume meat alternatives.”
Live in Ohio and want to try the veggie burger? Stop by one (or both) of these locations:
- 739 Bethel Rd in Columbus
- 5505 W Broad St. in Galloway
And no matter where you live, let Wendy’s know you’re hungry for vegan options by signing and sharing Steve-O’s Change.org petition.
